Conserving, Recycling and Sustaining.
Florida Distributing Company is committed to a green supply chain that contributes to our brewing partners sustainable development initiatives and conserves resources for our communities today, tomorrow, and forever into the future.
We aim to work smarter every day. By evaluating the manner and efficiency of how product arrives in our warehouses, where the product is specifically stored in the warehouse and the method in which we deliver that product to the retailer, we have been able to decrease the energy we use and the carbon footprint of each product we touch.
BEING BETTER NOT JUST BIGGER
We’re making changes everywhere to help reduce our impact on the environment. We utilize the latest dynamic route optimization technology to consolidate deliveries, which reduces emissions and roadway congestion and the size of the carbon footprint we create.
NOT JUST ON THE ROAD BUT IN THE WAREHOUSE
In the warehouse we have made a concerted effort to maximize our efficiency and limit wasted energy through the use of engineering standards and automated load diagrams. We use smart warehouse layouts and are installing voice-picking technology, which will reduce travel paths in the warehouse and energy consumed by forklift traffic. We are also working on a lighting retrograde program using efficient light sources such as fluorescent lights, skylights, and motion-activated lights that only go on when needed thus cutting our electricity consumption by a large margin. We use an Ammonia system to cool the warehouse that uses less energy than Freon.
We save over 200 trees per year by recycling paper and have minimized the amount of waste we contribute to landfills by recycling shrink-wrap, slip-sheets, and cardboard as well as by returning all MHE batteries to industry recyclers that remove the lead for the manufacturing of new batteries. Reyes Beverage Group has recycled over 1 million pounds of materials in just the past three years. Even out of code or damaged beer is recycled – the liquid, bottles, and the cans.
Florida Distributing Company is committed to the responsible sale, marketing and consumption of the products we distribute. We ensure that every employee feels it is his and her responsibility to make a conscious effort not to market, sell, or distribute any alcoholic beverages to anyone under 21.
We create and support programs and organizations that educate our employees and consumers about alcohol issues. We also provide training and tools to retailers and the local community to help ensure the responsible consumption of our partners’ products.
We are proud to have certified TIPS Trainers on staff. The TIPS (Training for Intervention Procedures) programs teach servers, sellers and consumers of alcohol to prevent intoxication, drunk driving and underage drinking. If you would like to set-up a training session for your staff, please contact our On-Premise Sales Director at 407-298-2424. Our time & training services are provided at no charge.
UNDERAGE ALCOHOL ACCESS PREVENTION
We partner with law enforcement, healthcare professionals and retailers as well as parent teacher associations to educate parents and the community on how to keep children safe and prevent them from accessing alcohol before they are 21 years of age.
RESPONSIBLE CONSUMPTION EDUCATION
We work with the local community to bring national responsible consumption resources to the community. We often customize the best brewer and health care created responsible consumption programs for the specific needs of the local community. Successful projects have included a variety of approaches to prevent drunk driving and over consumption.
